I generally blow right by the shoe department while thrifting, but my friends Michelle, and Amber have me rethinking my ignorance. While thrifting together last week, Michelle found these Spring stunners for me.
The blue one's have never been worn! She done good...real good. I am thinking I might start shufflin' through the shoe department for a quick once over. Of all things second-hand, shoes sort of freak me out, but I bleached the heck out of these so I'm good.
I spent most of my time hunting down t-shirts. This groovy guy was just waiting for me, and is now waiting to be turned into a pair of ankle biters (ab 2.0 size 3T-4T if you want to pre-order them). I found a number of great t-shirts, and will be adding to the ab collection over the next few weeks. (Thanks everyone for your support and your great response to ABC 2.0. There's more to come)
So...what's your favorite, and least favorite "department" at thrift stores? Personally I favor the whole store, with the exception of electronics.

love the fabric section, t-shirts, knick-knacks, jewelry, denim, belts, handbags, shoes, .....i could go on and on. as you said though, not much interest in vhs players and sony walkmans lol
ReplyDeleteAwesome t-shirt...may I pre-order? Are they already spoken for? I think that baby S needs a pair too - whatcha got for baby girls? and....I love the blue shoes - wish I could rock that color but my Irish pale blue toned skin can't quite pull it off!
ReplyDeleteThey're yours Jennie!
DeleteUmm, I'm gonna go with least favorite...the used lingerie section. No thank you. Who wants to wear someone else's used underwear?! I'd rather go commando!
ReplyDeleteI can't stop laughing! I never even knew they sold underwear!!! I have bought vintage slips before in the lingerie section, so I have to admit I have shopped it, but I've never seen "panties" (tee hee hee, I like using that word it makes me giggle)
DeleteHello! Just visiting from journalista-karen.blogspot.com. I like your blog and your style! Be sure to stop by my blog sometime.
Deletei'm with amber! i don't what someone else's old chonies!
ReplyDeleteCHONIES! Julia, you are the raddest!!!
Deletelove your finds, those yellow shoes are incredible... I didn't see those the other day... I keep meaning to post my little treasures too. oxo
ReplyDeleteUsed undies? Is that even legal?!? : )
ReplyDeleteI had a blast thrifting. I wear the sweater you found me almost every single day!!!
I head straight to the housewares for vintage Pyrex. But lately, I am on the search for mid-century furniture. I also have been known to come home with blazers. I scored an adorable cropped black blazer with scalloped edges for $6.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you favorite thrift stores in SD? I am new to the area and would love to know your favorites (if you are willing to share)!
Mmmm, lately my favorite is the blanket section (I keep finding awesome Hudson's Bay and Southewest motif Pendleton blankets!!), and least fave is the chonis section. Because mama don't wear used chonis.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say broken baby toys depress me. If a thrift store isn't sorted well, I feel like that category seems to emerge easily. My favorite section, though, is definitely housewares/kitchen stuff. That is where I spend most of my time.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds by the way!
