1-2-3

Ro' and I have had so much fun dressing up Bronson for Halloween.  Mr. T his first year.  He did a good job of staying in character, making that face almost the entire night.  I pity the drool!
Last year was my favorite, Michael Jackson.  Shamon!

This year we planned on dressing him as Jimi Hendrix, but he's more into the drums than the guitar and was pretty vocal about what he wanted to be.
He insisted on being a drummer boy.  One things for sure, we won't lose him trick or treating tonight--he doesn't stop beating that drum.  He terrorized "played" for the city of Carlsbad at an event on Saturday, marching (in and out of stores) to the beat of his own drum stopping only to collect candy.  Good thing he's cute or else--this reminds me I should bring some ibuprofen along with us tonight.

If you're in need of a last minute costume, Real Simple has a number of easy DIY costumes you can make on the fly with common household items.  Our little drummer boy came together with some red duct tape, a hat made from a quaker oats container,  and some gold buttons.  Easy as 1-2-3!

Have fun tonight friends and be safe!

Fave Find

A while back I found this planter thing at an estate sale. I have been wanting to somehow configure it for an herb garden, but not sure how to go about that; I have the opposite of green thumbs--total rotten black thumbs, ready to fall off.
In an attempt to put this piece to good use, I was playing around with it over the weekend and discovered it can be taken apart.  Voila, now it's being used as my centerpiece.  I love multifunctional pieces!

Are you ready?

It's not even halloween and already I have a serious urge to listen to Christmas music.  At first I thought I was crazy, but then I read this post over at Happenstance blog---it's comforting to know that I am not the only one.  How about you, are you ready to deck the halls and ring in the holidays?  Well, just in case you aren't, here a few links (via my pinterest board) to inspire your fall decor.  Have a beautiful weekend friends!

  • Not my style, but there is something about this wreath that I can't stop admiring.

  • I made this wreath and it turned out lovely. (FYI, it's a quick and easy diy)

Fall Finds + DIY Inspiration

Over the weekend I made a quick stop at my favorite thrift store and found everything I will need to set my table this Fall.
1. Beautiful  vintage Vera Neumann linen tablecloth--it's HUGE and actually fits our table.
2. Set of 12 napkins with festive cornucopia print in gorgeous colors
3. Beautiful flatware.  I am curious to know a little more about this flatware because the shapes and metal are very unique.  I am thinking it might be from a different country?  Does anyone know what that odd looking spoon at the bottom is used for?
And for a little DIY Inspiration, I collected some old brass/metal candle holders (all different shapes and sizes), and spray painted them in festive colors.  This is a very easy and inexpensive way to decorate for any holiday or season.

VW LOVE

Vinatge VW's make me smile.  I snapped the last pic myself on the way home from the textile show earlier this week.  I squealed when I spotted this humdinger because it's exactly the VW I want for the bink & boo mobile.  I love how the sunshine seems to be chasing this little bus.  Can you have a bad day when you drive this?  I don't think so.  Have a beautiful weekend friends and I will see you back here Monday morning!

Wishing you sunshine & cheer,
bink

Serious Eye Candy

I felt a little out of my league at the L.A. Textile show.  The place was huge.  I did so many circles I actually got dizzy.  I kept looping by the same booth like a stalker--I was trying to deny the goodness that was oozing from their racks, but after passing by it for the umpteenth time I finally swooped in and drooled over all the bright and sparkly loveliness they had hanging.  Seriously like can-day.  {Yes, I am singing the song by CAMEO...and it will be stuck in my head all dang day.} The show was fun, I learned sooooo much (as much as one can in 6 hours) about the industry and minimums and samples and--WHOA there is still so much for me to learn.  All in all there were only a few booths that left a lasting impression: the bright and sparkly trim booth (featured above), the Liberty Of London booth (sigh, amazing), and a company from Japan that creates vintage inspired fabrics that look very worn, weathered, and unbelievably comfortable.  I left the show inspired, and believing I am on the path I am intended to be traveling.

Graphic

A very talented someone got creative with sidewalk chalk.  While strolling the streets of Carlsbad on Sunday, I {literally} stumbled upon this inspiring graphic design.  I almost fell over trying to avoid walking over it.  The lines, the colors, the pattern, the beach ball, it's all fantastic and inspiring!

Speaking of inspiring, I am on my way to the L.A. International Textile Show this morning.  Eeeeek!  The only thing that will {briefly} distract me from the overwhelming amount of fabrics will be the people watching.  I will try to take plenty of pictures of both and report back to you. ;)

I hope everyone had a great weekend, cheers to a great week ahead of us filled with sunshine & cheer!

To Decorate or Not To...

I am using this image as inspiration for my fall decor.  I have never been one to decorate for Halloween--my least favorite holiday--but I certainly need to do something to celebrate this change of the season.  I plan on getting a few pumpkins, some flowers, and calling it a day.  Are you big on decorations for Halloween or do you prefer to just celebrate the change of season and the fall harvest?

Labels

The Pacific Lager Beer & pink Miller Line box are my faves! I have an urge to create something with the colors that are on the pink box...and maybe the grey box too...and of course the orange/red box.  Oh geez, all these images are inspiring me; duh that's why I put the post together.  I hope you find some inspiration too.

Have a seat

It's not even 9 a.m. and already I have traveled to town, back home, into San Diego and back home again.  If only I could spend the rest of my day cozied up on one of these beautiful sofas, reading a book, enjoying the rain.  But! there's work to be done!

Holiday

(Is anyone else humming the tune Holiday by Madonna?) Is it too early to start thinking about the holidays?  Once September arrives my mind seems to brush over Halloween and Thanksgiving, and fast forwards directly to December.  Now until the end of the year is a busy time for me in the studio, and I thought I better get these out before December sneaks up on me and it's too late.  So with that being said...I introduce to you, the Cindy Lou baby booties.  Care to take a guess who my inspiration was?
