Weekend Update

I have two sick boys at  home today (hence the late post), so I will keep this post short and to the point.

 1) Peterson's Donut Corner, my new favorite donut shop and sweet treat stop.  I ate there with the girls (michelle and amber) on Friday, and then took the boys there on Saturday.  Best donut's...even better than VG's. 

2)  The family ventured to a car show on Saturday (very random).  I have not been to a car show since I was a little girl.  My dad used to belong to the VW club and we would go to car shows throughout Northern California.  I was sad there were no V-Dubs, but there was this beautiful truck.  The paint job was dreamy, but it was the interior that stole my heart.

3) Bronson experienced his first bounce house this weekend.  Nothing could lure him out of that dang bouncer.  Not food.  Not cake.  Nothing!  He finally emerged two hours later, ready for bed.  He actually said to me, "Mommy, night night".

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  How did you celebrate the holiday?  We of course bbq'd lounged by the pool and I managed to find time to sew myself two dresses and take a four hour nap.  What a glorious day!  Cheers to a great week!  I hope you all are in good health.

 

I'm out!

I've gathered a few of "the creatives" and we are headed out early this morning for a day of thrifting.  I have mapped out a handful of estate sales, and yesterday while "cruising" Escondido--by cruising I mean I got lost--I  discovered a handful of new (to me) thrift shops.  Yay!

How about you?  Plans for the holiday?  Are you kicking it off early by taking Friday off?  What ever you do I wish you all safe and peaceful holiday weekend.

Favorite Finds

It's been a while since I've posted my favorite finds.  Here are just a handful from this past week. Out of curiosity, do you even care to see what I find?  I do this more as a log for myself, but I hope that it also gives some of you inspiration.  Please let me know what you think.

A new gym bag for  Ro'.  Although this bag is too cool to carry to the gym. (Roman agrees.)

I have a pretty nice collection of antique and vintage frames and this one just might be the star of the bunch.

When I saw this mirror was only $1 I let out a serious squeal.  It's old, worn-out, crusted, rusted, and dinged in all the right places.  The woman who sold it to me insisted I paint it and buy a new mirror for it.  As she put it, "there's a horrible film on the mirror that we couldn't remove. It needs a new mirror unless you want to look splotchy every time you look in it."  Silly woman, this mirror isn't for me to gaze into...it's for me to gaze at.  I LOVE THE FILM!

Spring Cleaning

After the pop-up shop my "studio" was a total disaster.  I spent a good part of this week getting things in order--even weeding through my collection of fabrics (I have two oversized garbage bags waiting to be donated).  Now the space is fresh, organized and inspiring!  Here is a little peek at the bed in my studio.  I'm in love with the mix of prints, patterns and colors.

First "Like"

Recently Bronson has come to remember his friends names, and asks about them at all times of the day: when he wakes in the middle of the night, just before a bite of oatmeal, as he's coming down the slide at the park, when I'm rinsing his hair in the bath, in the middle of saying his prayers before bed....  But there is one friend in particular that he seems most fond of, and constantly asks about.  Little Miss "S".  Yesterday he asked me to buy bubbles for her, and last night he wanted to share his pizza with her.  The funny thing is the second he see's her he clams up.  He runs away.  He throws sand on her.  He screams when she reaches for his hand.  He must like her.

pop-up perfection!

 Sorry I didn't take better pictures...I forgot my camera.  Saturday was our first ever pop-up shop and let me just say I can't wait for the next one!  A big thank you to Melissa and Betsy of Bixby & Ball for hosting the event.  And a special thanks to Alexis and Grace for helping me get ready for the big day. Aren't those lanterns amazing?!  Alexis discovered them in the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living.  They were perfect for the pop-up and so easy to make.

I am at a loss for words for how perfectly everything came together and how wonderful it was to meet and mingle with folks.  Thank you to everyone who helped, showed up, and supported this event.  I am so grateful.

Today is the day!

Sew....

 I spent most of the weekend parked in front of my sewing machine in preparation for the pop-up shop this Saturday at Bixby & Ball.  I will try my hardest to post pictures later in the week of the fun things I have been working on, but I can't promise.  Besides, that should be all the more reason for you to come to the event. ;)
