What would...

..."binky boo" carry in her pocketbook?  Well, since I named this pocketbook after myself, let me tell you what I do carry .
I am never without lip gloss, lip glaze is my fave.  My Starbucks card is always in tow (need those points).  Of course my keychain - with actual keys on it. And, who can leave home without their phone?  I love my droid, especially since I recently found the Vignette app.
Pennies.  I always have a handful of pennies for little "b" to throw into the fountain at Starbucks.  It's tradition.  Also for little "b", a Hot Wheels car.  I only recently let him have these, they make him so happy and keep him entertained. Last but not least, gum. I can't run around town delivering my goods with coffee breath.

chic for cheap

Only $9!  I also like this one.

Love, love, love Crow Watches.  Sleek and simple design, in all the right colors, and only 50 bucks!  Check out the entire collection at www.CrowWatches.com, and head over the The Beauty File blog before next Tuesday, for your chance to win a Crow Watch.

Thank you decor8 (Holly Becker)

A lovely reader informed us this morning that we were featured on the blog decor8.  Check out the post, and the talented artist we were featured with.  Wow!  What a Wednesday.

We Made It!

Earlier in the week Hiya Papaya emailed me to let me know that she had featured the Carol Brady Pocketbook in her etsy treasury.
I received another email form her this morning letting me know that her treasury was featured on the front page of Etsy.  Yay!  Finally, our first (of many to come) feature on Etsy.  Just as I was giving up on the craft giant.  Well I guess I will stick it out, and spruce up the shop a bit.
Thanks again Hiya Papaya!

Oh Kate...

I thing I "need" this tote from kate spade...when it goes on sale.
... and this nano case too.

zip it

Last week my {amazing} mother sent me a care package moving box filled with goodies. I love getting unexpected items in the mail.
I am obsessed with packaging.  I love the soft muted colors, and fonts of yesteryear. While we're on the subject of soft, there were a handful of soft pink cotton pompoms included in the package.  They remind me of the kind I would attach to the laces of my roller skates as a kid.  There was also a good amount of trim, but isn't that Holly Hobbie ribbon the cutest!?  It will be perfect for wrapping gifts.

I have never seen a zipper coiled up and packaged like this.  I love everything about the label.  Lavender and black is one of my favorite color combos.

This little guy was in there too.  I am thinking I am  going to spray paint him.  Thoughts?

Oh Joy!

It's been a while since I have been to a yard sale, but this weekend "H" from the blog Happenstance joined me for a little road trip south; we left our north county bubble and cruised on down to Coronado for the Oh Joy yard sale
Almost an hour early (we anticipated heavy traffic), we decided to kill time by cruising the quaint and cozy streets of Coronado.  Of course we stumbled upon an estate sale (purely accidental), stopped, and lingered a bit, but without saying it "H" and I wanted to save our cash for the real event.  Glad we I did.
This fabric was folded neatly and patiently waiting for me to find it.  Hmmmm, what's a girl to make?  This found fabric screams Pocketbooks!

Are you kidding me!? I love this piece!  I have a special project in mind for this.
And of course I couldn't resist a couple of personal purchases.  I am pretty sure I will be wearing this necklace everyday this summer.
I bought this for the wood beads, and plan on doing a little redo with this necklace.  Thanks Joy for hosting such a fun little event.  Best wishes to you and the Mr. in L.A.

left behind

The Gucci bag was not in good condition, and for $275 it was easy for me to leave behind.
This sweet little piece was left behind from the Oh Joy yard sale.  I did score a few finds at the sale, and will post soon.

Yesterday I was flipping clicking through the premier issue of Pure Green Living magazine when I spotted this red bed.  I love it!  I must have it!

WAIT!  I do have it.  Rather my grandmother has it.  I grew up sleeping in this exact bed (minus the cool red paint) at my grandma's house.  My fingers are crossed that this bed is in storage and I can drive to Chico and pick it up.  Of course I will be painting it red.  I have my heart set on this being Bronson's big boy bed, so I hope my grandma still has it.

We have been wanting to refinish or paint our dresser and chest of drawers in our room; this mustard dresser is giving me just the inspiration I need to redo our entire bedroom.  I am really liking the mirror, it anchors the dresser and keeps it from feeling too vintagy.  No?

What would...

...a wahine wear?  She's the kind of girl who rolls out of bed, plucks her wears from the floor, and rolls out the door.
(glasses, hat, tank, shorts, polish, flip-flops)

What would a wahine ride?  When she's not able too hitch a ride, or just to tired to walk, she prefers to roll around on her Renner board.

What would a wahine carry in her pocketbook?  She keeps sweet tart candies loose like spare change, covering her iphone in candy dust.  Her favorite app?  Surfline, "know before you go".  In her peek-a-boo-pocket™ she keeps her favorite MAC lipglass colors, along with a few spare twistband's.  Wondering why she doesn't carry keys?  Well she doesn't have a car, and she keeps the key to her house under the potted plant near her front door.

Their baaaack...

The binklet is like a little lasso for everything from teething rings to toys, and of course pacifiers too!  Buy yours now, before they're gone.  The binklet works with various styles of pacifiers; soothie, handle, gumdrop, and button.  No extra gadget or attachment needed.

New Series: What would...

I thought it might be fun to see who carries what in their bink & boo pocketbook.  First up, Carol Brady.

1. Sunglasses by RAEN optics available at Hansen.

2. When Cindy begins to whine, and Bobby gets out of control, Carol reaches into her pocketbook and pulls out a little taste of sunshine (starburst) to calm the kids.

3. Even though she's a modern day woman Carol prefers to cruise around in her 1974 VW Bus.  (It's white with white interior, but she had Alice whip up some groovy curtains to add a splash of color inside the ride).

4. The Carol Brady Pocketbook.

5. It was hard for Carol to give up frosted lipstick, but once she discovered Stila lip & cheek stain it was easy as pie.

6.  Carol keeps up with the kids, emails Alice ideas for dinner, and texts Mike little love notes on her favorite modern day accessory the iphone.  Her favorite app?  Hipstamatic of course.

left behind

A great belt from the late '60's.  I passed on the belt because it was in horrible condition, but now I am sitting here kicking myself because I could use those enamel fish for a project.
1. Vintage wool suit.  A quick story about the woman who wore this suit,  she was a dancer with Ziegfeld Follies.  She finally stopped dancing at 94 years of age (she was 98 when she died).  She had a closet filled with some of her old costumes (a few of which I now own) and they were amazing!  This estate sale was probably one of my all time favorite.

2.  This chair was from the same estate sale, and only $15.  I imagined the woman sitting in her soft pink robe, trimmed in feathers applying her make-up before going on stage.

3.  Vintage china in the most beautiful baby blue hue.

4.  I have a thing for bee's.  I saw this very sweet cross-stitched pillow, and knew I had to have it.  It wasn't in very good condition (stained with holes), but I thought I might be able to cut-it-up and create a smaller pillow from it.  When I asked the woman how much she wanted for it she said $60. I literally shouted, "ARE YOU CRAZY!"  It just flew out of my mouth before I could stop myself.  I quickly apologized, and politely let her know that I would pass.  I am still wondering how she came up with $60 for a 14 x 14 pillow that was in obviously poor condition.

Yes, this was at an estate sale, and yes I wanted it.  Last year I took a little spin on a Harley through Olympia, Washington, and as they say, I "caught the bug".  Riding down the road, feeling the changes in climate, the smells (most good) in the air, and of course the wind in my hair...I am itching for a bike, and...

...a Vespa.

See. Do.

I didn't think it was possible, but this past week was more crazy than the week before.  I managed to snap a couple of photos of what we (bink & boo) do every weekend, and a few times a week.  Here is a little run down of  what we see when we're out doin'.

The Mr. and I go for a run along the 101, and when ever I see this orange bus, I go crazy with excitement.  In case it's not obvious, this is my dream mode of transportation for bink & boo.  Can you image me driving around town making deliveries, and promoting bink & boo in an orange bus!?  I can!  It's my goal for 2012.

Isn't that dog the funniest.  The face is priceless.

Bronson and his must have accessory - the blanket.  He takes that thing everywhere!  I have to wait until he falls asleep to wash it, and then drop it back in his bed before he wakes up.  I used to think it was cute, but now it drives me crazy.  I  guess it's kind of crazy cute.

And the bitchin' ride.  If I won the lottery I would buy this for my mom.  She is an old school surfer gal who now lives in the Pacific Northwest.  My mom is the coolest and this ride would so compliment her - minus the ghost flames.
Little "B" likes to pretend he can run the last half mile with us, but usually Roman ends up carrying him the last few hundred feet.
We usually head home, shower and then it's back on the road.  The run is our little warm-up for the big race...ESTATE SALING (once I again I never how to spell this. Do I drop the "e"?).  We always stop at Starbucks before we hit the sales (one of my favorite traditions and luxuries).  Decaf for me, add shot for Roman, and water for the little.  We have our "usual" Starbucks, but last weekend I was feeling a little adventurous and stopped by one near the freeway. It was a WALK-UP!  Have you ever seen such a thing?!  All my years in Seattle working for the coffee giant, and in all my travels, I have never seen a walk-up Starbucks.  I guess there are only 4 in the entire company.  Very cute Starbucks, there should be more.
In case you are wondering, Bronson goes everywhere with us/me.  He has been doing this since the day after we came home from the hospital (no joke).  He loves it!  Of course we make time for him.  Nap time (2 a day).  Dinner time (always at the table as a family).  And Bronson's favorite, park time and feeding the ducks.

So there is a little peek into bink & boo.  One day I'll share with you what a work week looks like.  What are some of your weekend traditions?

Globetrotting

This is my inspiration for Bronson's room.  I love the lighted globe.  I just missed one at an estate sale last week.  Dang it!  Oh well, between Matilda's Mouse (starts today)  and the Urban Barn (grand opening today) I should be able to  find another one.

What are you on the look out for?

Inspiration to Creation: Poppy

The Inspiration

Our Creation

The Poppy traditional bib is a new favorite for me.  I love the soft sunset like colors.  The second this fabric came home (after being cleaned of course), I cut-it-up.  It is so soft.  Only a few lucky little girl's will be able to wear this sweet creation - it's another very limited edition bib.  I wish I had more of this fabric, I would make myself a bib.  Just kidding...sort of.

Checking out

I have so much to share with all 5 of you, but it will have to wait.  This week I am busier than a one armed paper hanger.  I don't know what that means, but my father in law says it (he's from Texas).  bink & boo is buh-buh-busy and needs all my time over the next few weeks.  I am so frazzled I haven't even had time to check my reader.  I took a quick peek yesterday and I had over 790 items waiting for me.  YIKES!!!

P.S. Since I shut down the T.V. (zero cable) I have been even busier.  Isn't that weird?

Have a great weekend!  I am hoping the sun will make an appearance this weekend.  I'd like to go to the beach, and not freeze my patootie off.

snap-snaps, vignette style

Envious of the hipstamatic app (thanks Alexis), I finally found the droid equivalent - vignette (you must download my fellow droidians).  We went to the Padres game on Saturday, and as predicted the Astros lost, BUT Roman caught a fly ball...WHILE HOLDING BRONSON!  I couldn't believe it!  In all our years of attending ball games we have never even come close to catching a fly ball.  How awesome is it Roman caught a fly at Bronson's first game!?

Inspiration to Creation: Chloe

Inspiration

Our Creation

There is something about the name Chloe that conjures up thoughts of nature and the beauty of dusk.  The Chloe booty is another very, very limited edition booty, and a bit unique for bink & boo.  Do you notice anything different?  This is the first time a girl's booty has a solid sole.   Created from a vintage tablecloth the Chloe sole is the perfect compliment to the entire booty.

Inspiration to Creation: Sara Jane

Our Creation
I grew up in a small town in Northern California - that looks nothing like these photos.  The grass was dry and burned by the sun.  If you even dared ride your bike to sit under a tree and read, it would get a flat tire from the star thistle, and most likely you would get bit by a rattle snake, and stung by a bee.  While my description isn't so charming, I do have fond memories of enjoying hot summer days (110 degrees) at the Durham pool.  That is until a rattle snake den was found near the pool and it was shut down for a week.  As I remember it, it was the hottest week in history. It was too hot for anything to grow in that town, except almonds.  The one nut I am allergic to.  Sorry to be such a Debbie downer, but it's the truth.  Any who, I love Chico and it's sister city Durham.  I chose these pictures, because this is I how I choose to remember it.

I chose the name Sara Jane, because I went to elementary school with a girl by that name.  Something about these booties takes me back to my country roots, long summer days, and swimming at the Durham pool with Sara Jane.

Inspiration to Creation: Simply Summer

The Inspiration

Our Creation

The simply summer baby booties are another very, very limited edition creation, so collect them while you can.

Side note, this found fabric came from this estate sale escapade.  I didn't even know this fabric was lining a vintage casserole carrier that I had purchased.  SCORE!

Where did the name come from?

What can I say?  We were really crushing on the 70's when we created these.
